Praised for his precision, clarity, and dramatic intelligence, Christopher Wattam is an established performer of the oratorio and concert repertoire. His recent performances include Amor Divino in Cristo nell'Orto by Johann Fux at the Collegium St. Michel Fribourg CH, Buxtehude's Membra Jesu Nostri in Basel's Peterskirche, Monteverdi’s ​Vespro Veneziano​ with the La Cetra Barockorchester conducted by Andrea Marcon at the Chiesa Collegio Papio in Ascona, Helmut Lachenmann’s ​Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern​ at the Zürich Opernhaus, and Haydn’s ​Lord Nelson Mass at the Kathedrale St. Mariä Himmelfahrt in Chur. He is also a dynamic operatic and stage performer, having performed Renaud in Lully's ​Armide​ at Schloss Valtice in the Czech Republic, The Triumph of Peace by Henry Lawes in Paris under the direction of Benjamin Lazar, and Ralph Rackstraw in ​H.M.S Pinafore​ with Toronto Operetta Theatre.

 

Christopher holds a Master of Arts in Musikalischer Performance Alte Musik from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where he studied with Ulrich Messthaler, as well as an Artist Diploma from Toronto’s Royal Conservatory of Music.
